From the topic on player stats.

Speaking of which... is there a way to change your name on Usurper .20d Classic Mode? I don't know why I went with a different name than what I always use online... stupid names. :(
OK I have done some testing today on this. My inital impression was that if the SYSOP is familar with the player editor, and Doesn't try to change the SYSTEM users name, it is probably possible to carefully change the players character name.
My concern is still that there is a possiblity of data file corruption. I was able to do same testing in regards to the mail.dat system, within Usurper.
For those that might be interested in my procedure check my report in progress http://knaper.com/usurper/name-change.txt

Conclusion thus far is that some mail to the player changed may get lost, and and mail sent by them before the name change, will not have replies(even if sent) will be routed to the now non-existant player.
Over time I suspect more problems with the message system would lead to more corruption.
No Usurper system error messages were recieved in testing done thus far.

Right on, it's just too bad we can't just go to our Master and have him do it easily for a ridiculously high price. Like... 20mil for a name change.

That would be an excellent chore for the masters, or possibly some magical shop, in a future version.
I just don't know if the effort to install it would result in it actually be used that often.
I know one of the problems Jakob has had is that all the extra's that are in Usurper have caused it to be a huge memory hog.
One of the major problems is speed and stability, so it might be premature at this point to expand much.
Which of course is a whole different topic thread.

continued maintenance has not not shown any corruption as of yet. Probably because I'm trying to corrupt the files.:)

He will need to make full backup of all data files prior to attempting the editing. thus if it goes wrong, he can turn the clock back to the way it was. Of course this turning back will affect other users as well.

It's almost like the decision I had to make years ago. Have eye laser surgery that would immediately destroy the amount of vision it would take 18 months to lose, and possbly stop the eventual total loss of vision, or just let it ride and wait to see...

Hint what is now15 years later. left eye 2-30 corrected, right eye 20-300 would be 20-2000 for both. and both lenses replaced.
