Telnet clients that work with Usurper

Post by Lenny of Repan »

I use NetTerm as my personal favorite telnet client. I have used it to connect to many telnet BBS's over the last several years. I also have used the windows default telnet client a lot. However it doesn't always display ANSI well for me. On my Gameserver, I primarlily use the Windows Client because of it's ease with Internet Explorer. Now with the Gameserver, there are a number of users from Europe that have problems within the game with key input. Are there any recommended telnet clients other than what I have mentioned?

I've been using NetRunner and MT32 for a while now. Works great, have not had any problems with key inputs.. :)

I use putty - it works pretty well (and is a good ssh client too!)

Seems to not have full ansi support when running on win95/98, but
in 2k/xp it works great.

Nearly every single telnet client in WinXP and the NT based Windows versions display the ANSi colors incorrectly. This can be resolved, as well as the issue of clients not displaying the ANSi characters correctly, by going to vortexbbs.com and downloading the mTelnet *installer* which includes an ANSi fix.

trying and trying

Post by gattman60 »

I've been trying to get on Vortex for a couple of days. Tried some other sites and sometimes I get on, sometimes not. I just downloaded MTELNET from this site and it states connection refused. Is vortex down or is there something else I need to do with a telnet? :?

I just tried to connect to vortex, and also got a no connection message.
Not sure how long it's been down, but sure haakon will have it back up soon.

Hi,

Around 2002, I used to play usurper. I got the ip of that server from Lenny's directory, at his main page. The ip was something like 68.64.15.114. I can't remember exactly. I wonder if that server still exists. Does anybody know?

thanks

That server was my primary system, which I was using at the time for testing, that wasn't the exact address, just close.
The actual machine still survives, but is no longer connected to the internet.
Unfortunately, I haven't had real internet at home since my wife passed away last December. :(
Thanks for remembering though.
